About Us – Who We Are
Chance for Change is a registered Malawian NGO dedicated to providing access to justice and protection for vulnerable children and young people.
Since 2011, we have pioneered innovative approaches to child justice and protection in Malawi, reaching over 11,500 vulnerable children and young people.
We operate Malawi’s first private reformatory centre and run the Pioneers of Change programme, supporting girls who are victims or at risk of trafficking, abuse, and sexual exploitation.

In Malawi, thousands of vulnerable children face circumstances that no child should experience — poverty so severe that survival requires impossible choices. No child should be forced to steal or sell their bodies to survive. We are here to change that. greed.

Our History & Mission
Our mission is to provide comprehensive, dignity-centred programmes that ensure access to justice for children in conflict with the law and protection for children vulnerable to exploitation — while addressing the root causes of poverty, vulnerability, and inequality that drive their circumstances. Our guiding principle is simple: “To inspire a future worth having.”

Where we work
Chance for Change is based in Kawale, Lilongwe, and works across Malawi — one of the world’s least developed countries. With over 70% of its population of approximately 20 million people living below the international poverty line, Malawi faces severe, intersecting challenges that directly impact children: endemic poverty, climate vulnerability, high HIV/AIDS prevalence, educational barriers, and gender-based violence.
We operate in the spaces where government capacity is stretched thin — complementing rather than replacing statutory services. Our programmes serve children in the criminal justice system across reformatories, juvenile prisons, and courts, as well as girls in communities across Lilongwe who are victims or at risk of trafficking and exploitation.
